In 1938, President Franklin D. Roosevelt selected the present site of WRNMMC when he saw the its spring-fed pond. The pond reminded him of the Biblical “Pool of Bethesda,” a place of healing and renewal.

Indeed, it perfectly described WRNMMC’s mission through the years…the flagship of Navy Medicine, where we have vigilantly healed and renewed the lives of service-members and their families.

Lately, we are privileged to serve Sailors and Marines who have been injured in Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF). We honor their sacrifices with the best possible patient care experience.

With this same pride and dedication we welcome you as a new shipmate who will be bound to our mission and team as healthcare provider, administrative staff, or support personnel. The Sponsor Program will introduce you to the WRNMMC family and our critical role in the defense of our nation.

Under OPNAV 1740.3A, the Sponsor Program facilitates the smooth transition of service-members who receive orders for WRNMMC Bethesda. Manpower Management and the Sponsor Program address all of your concerns, whether they be family, social or financial in nature.
