| The WRNMMC Fisher Houses, Navy Support Activity Bethesda, provides a "home away from home" for families of patients admitted for medical care at the medical center. The Fisher Houses represent the commitment to provide quality care and support to patients and their families during a time of need. Providing five homes for families, the WRNMMC Fisher Houses offer comfortably furnished rooms, with adjoining bathroom, fully equipped kitchens, living, dining and laundry rooms. |

| Fisher House Foundation generously provides a grant for all families staying at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center Fisher Houses NSA/Bethesda. The Zachary and Elizabeth Fisher Houses provide comfort to families who are coping with a medical crisis of a loved one and ease the burden of having to locate local lodging accommodations. The Fisher Houses are located on the grounds of the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center Bethesda, next to the Navy Lodge. |
| Guest Amenities |
- All guest rooms are furnished with a TV, DVD player, iHome docking station, phone , ironing board, hairdryer, bed linens, towels, and hand soap.
- Each house has a guest computer and/or wireless internet access (WI-FI).

| Fisher House Policies, Referral Procedure, and Admission Guidelines |
- Fisher House is available to families of active duty, retired and veterans from all services including the National Guard and Coast Guard
|
| Availability and Placement |
| A referral must be completed in advance of arrival and submitted to the Fisher House. However, advance referrals do not constitute a reservation. The Fisher House operates on a day-to-day basis due to the medical needs of our guests and their families. A Fisher House staff member will contact the family regarding availability of lodging. |

Physicians, Nurses, Chaplains, Military Liaisons, Social Workers, American Red Cross, Case Managers, Patient Administration, the patient, or a family member may prepare referrals.

| Eligibility Requirements |
- Family must be traveling a minimum distance of 40 miles one way
- Lodging is available to families who have no local accommodations
- Patient's condition must be serious in nature and not diagnostic testing, general, or elective procedures
- Families are required to check out when the patient is discharged to Med-Hold
|
| Admittance Guidelines |
Due to priority and urgent medical needs, it is not always possible to admit families on a first come first serve basis. The following factors are taken into consideration.
- Medical Condition - Terminal, Critical, Serious ( Not for elective procedures)
- Financial - Junior personnel have priority
- Status - Active duty personnel have priority
- Patients are not eligible to stay at the Fisher House without a caregiver
- Each family will be assigned one guest room
- Once eligibility and availability is confirmed, the family will be contacted be the Fisher House staff when a room is available
- A family may be admitted after business hours if prior arrangements have been made with the Fisher House staff

From Wisconsin Ave, Rt. 355, at Medical Center METRO station, turn into base on South Wood Rd. First right onto Palmer Rd South. Pass hospital, Bldg 10, on left. Cross bridge. Right on Stokes Rd. Fisher Houses on left. Park in front or back. Manager's office is in Fisher House II (Bldg 25) on left.

- Using your personal car to drive to the hospital is not advised as parking in the Visitors' Garage is extremely limited
