Internal Medicine Residency
The NCC-Internal Medicine Residency at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center brings together the best of Military Internal Medicine.
Located in the heart of federal medicine next to the National Institutes of Health and Uniformed Services University, the new Walter Reed Bethesda hospital anchors an integrated military healthcare system in the National Capital Region, with 50 ICU beds, 296 patient rooms, 27 ER beds, a 7-story outpatient building, and a new gym/pool.
The joint Army/Navy NCC-IM residency program offers training in internal medicine and all subspecialties to trainees from all services. We are a busy tertiary care medical center with dedicated teaching faculty and a history of excellence in clinical education and research. Our patients include wounded warriors, military beneficiaries, veterans, foreign dignitaries, and our Nation's Leaders. We have active partnerships for training globally, including Landstuhl Regional Medical Center (Germany), Army/Navy research facilities (Kenya/ Peru/ Egypt) as well as with area hospitals including the DC VA. We offer a Tactical Medicine Elective with the U.S. Parks Police and send residents on humanitarian assistance missions on the hospital ship USNS Comfort and other operational platforms. We are pioneering development of the GME patient-centered medical home and train residents to be leaders in military medicine and primary/specialty care.
On the outskirts of Washington DC, Walter Reed Bethesda is within easy reach of the National Zoo and Mall, many sporting venues/ restaurants, and numerous historic/military sites. Conveniently located on the DC Metro.
