HOW
TO APPLY TO USU
CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY Ph.D. PROGRAM
Applying to the USU program is a multi-step process that involves gaining
acceptance to the USU graduate program as well as gaining an appointment
as a naval officer in the Navy Medical Services Corps (MSC). There are
additional requirements for current active duty applicants.

a Navy Medical Programs Officer recruiter in order to insure that documents

required for commissioning as a naval officer. In addition, application
documents required by the university must be submitted directly to the
Graduate Education Office at USU (See mailing address below).

The
Interview Process
The student selection process involves active participation of
core faculty members and adjunct military faculty. Navy psychologists
review prospective applicants' military background and interests
to assess aptitude for a career in Navy Clinical Psychology and
will conduct their own separate interview. Prior military achievement
relevant to successful attainment of program goals and objectives
also is evaluated. The final selection process includes formal interview
of those students who have been determined to be of acceptable quality
and interest from written application information.
If you are selected for an interview, you will be contacted by
Ms. Corinne Simmons or another member of the department staff. You
will be invited to visit USU for an interview with several of the
civilian faculty members and the department Senior Military Psychologist.
The department DOES NOT FUND any travel or expenses relating to
this visit. You are responsible for paying such costs if your unit
will not authorize TDY orders payable from unit funds. If you can
not attend an on-site interview, you may elect to do a telephone
interview.
There are two Navy openings per year for the USU Clinical Psychology
Ph.D. program.
