Admissions and Dispositions

Your inpatient admission starts with us. Our mission is to fulfill administrative procedures necessary for the proper Admission and Disposition of all inpatients including; compiling workload and patient care statistics; and coordinating with medical and nursing staff for efficient bed management. Admissions clerk(s) are available 24hrs a day, 7 days a week to ensure that the processing of your care is timely and efficient by properly recording your information and organizing your documents.

Decedent Affairs Program

In the event of a family member's death during inpatient treatment, you will be assisted with information on funeral arrangements and reimbursement on certain decedent affairs benefits. This program is governed by NAVMEDCOMINST 5360.1

Birth Registration

You will receive a courtesy birth certificate for your newborn to be enrolled in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS).

The Office of Vital Statistics for the state of Maryland will be provided with the required information for Social Security Number processing.

Patient Tracking

Ensures that active duty patients who are admitted in civilian facilities in the WRNMMC catchment area are accounted for and moved to a military medical treatment facility when stable. BUMEDINST 6320.72 governs this process.

Eligibility and Secretary of the Navy Designee Program
  • Your eligibility for WRNMMC health care is determined to facilitate your treatment process.

The Secretary of the Navy Designee Program enables patients who are not eligible, but have a condition that is considered a good teaching opportunity to receive medical care on a temporary basis. This program is governed by NAVMEDCOMINST 6320.3B

Aeromedical Evacuations (MEDEVACs)

Executes air travel for WRNMMC patients whose points of origin are outside the geographical area. This service ensures that the proper paperwork is completed, medical documentation is complete, and that the patient is familiar with the system. More...WRNMMC MEDEVACs.

The 89 Aeromedical Staging Flight (ASF) at Andrews Air Force Base coordinates flights into the National Capital Area for Malcolm Grow Medical Center (Andrews AFB), Walter Reed Army Medical Center, and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (Bethesda).

The Global Patient Requirements Movement Center (GPMRC) administrates the program.
